Friends portrait using the Gustav Vigeland sculpture
It is really a fascinating experience to visit the Gustav Vigeland’s park. Do it, if you come to Oslo. I hit the sculpture No. 22: Sitting man and woman, their foreheads touching, 1916, Granite. It attracted my attention so I took several photos and made a few quick sketches.
When I viewed the photos later on at home, this sculpture reminded me immediately my friends. Therefore I made for them a christmas present, which is a collage of the photo-detail of the touching hforeheads and a fine drawing of a whole sculpture. the point was to achieve the contrast between the “robust” photo of a granite sculpture and a fine sketch.
I think I succesed, because their 2-year old daughter recognised them instantly.
